What's This...

1.X is a word coined in 1931 by American writer Charles Fort to describe the strange disappearances and appearances of anomalies, which he suggested may be connected.Similar is apport, an earlier word used to describe what today might be called X; and bilocation, when something or someone described as being a magician is said to be able to occupy two places simultaneously. Fort's first formal use of the word was in the second chapter of his 1931 book, Lo! "Mostly in this book I shall specialize upon indications that there exists a transportory force that I shall call X." Though, with his typical half-serious jokiness, Fort added, "I shall be accused of having assembled lies, yarns, hoaxes, and superstitions. To some degree I think so, myself. To some degree, I do not. I offer the data."

What's in a name.....

In the November, 1937 issue of the Calcutta-based journal Modern Review, an article entitled 'The Rashtrapati' severely criticized Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru. The anonymous author acknowledged Nehru's initiative and innate drive but also pointed out glaring streaks of autocracy, saying that Nehru’s character was marked by "intolerance of others and a certain contempt for the weak and inefficient". The author, who signed himself "Chanakya", added that Nehru's conceit was "already formidable", and worried that soon "Jawaharlal might fancy himself as a Caesar".
Sooner it was revealed who CHANAKYA was, and he was
rewarded with congress presidency.

Its Movie Time...

X is a Tamil feature film which means 'The Hero' or 'The Leader' in Tamil.

X has been called "The Godfather" of Tamil cinema, as it portrays the life of an underworld don in Bombay. While the film draws inspiration from The Godfather trilogy, it is adapted to an Indian scenario. The story revolves around the life of a real-life underworld don called Varada or Varadarajan Mudaliar. The film sympathetically depicts the struggle of South Indians living in Mumbai.

The lead character is played by the actor Y. The cast also includes Saranya, Karthika, Nassar, Delhi Ganesh and Janagaraj. The film soundtrack was composed by Ilaiyaraaja. The film helped Y secure a Indian National Award for his performance.

X is in the Time Magazine "All-Time 100 Best Films" list, issued in 2005.

Identify X & Y.

Sunday, August 10, 2008

An easy way to visually tell X and Y apart is that X has a small black nose (it looks a bit like a chocolate chip) and one centered protruding tooth, whereas Y has a big red nose and his two prominent canines exposed. X is also depicted as having smooth, short fur atop his head while Y's tends to be ruffled.X is considered to be smarter than Y.Identify X and Y!!
