Religion meets Science....It happens only in India

“Tatha cha smaryate yojnanam sahastre dwe dwe shate cha yojane ekain nimishardhen kramamana namo.stute iti”

This is a prayer to the Sun God mentioned as a commentary by Sayanacharya on the 4th verse of the hymn of Rig Veda 1.50.

What is the significance in scientific terms of this prayer?

The first ever mention of the value of speed of light which could be derived from this prayer

1 yojana=9 miles
0.5 nimisha = 8/75 seconds

Using these values the value of speed of light comes 186,413.22 miles per second which is very close to the scientific figure of 186,300 miles per second
